Senior Assistant Librarian: Repository and Digital Media Management: REF: 10414
Birkbeck is a world-class institution, with a vibrant centre of academic engagement and excellence and is the UK’s leading provider of part-time, evening education for mature students.
Applications are invited for an exciting new post, responsible for our institutional repository of research publications and for digital media management for visual images, learning objects, and other media content. The post holder will take a central role in the Library’s contribution towards the College’s preparations for the Research Excellence Framework (REF).
This demanding role requires excellent IT skills, a good understanding of the workflows and processes required in the management of digital material, and the ability to convey technical concepts to colleagues and the academic community in a clear and understandable way. You will need experience of working with at least one type of online repository or a media content management system.
Applicants should have the ability to manage staff, have at least one year's experience of working in an academic library, and possess excellent customer care skills as this post also forms part of the Library Help Desk Team.
We offer a final salary pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent development and training opportunities. This post is a full-time permanent post on Grade 7 starting salary £33,669 (includes £2,922 London Allowance) followed by five annual increments to £38,568 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
