This page shows how to formulate URLs that link to RoMEO entries for journals and/or publishers that you can then cite on websites and in correspondence. In general, you may need to run an interactive RoMEO search first and then use information from the results to formulate the URL.
Persistent Links
The following link styles can be used where you wish to cite a specific journal or publisher
Publishers
Each record for a publisher in RoMEO has a persistent identification number. This not displayed, but it can be seen if you hover over the link labelled "Suggest an update for this record" at the foot of the record. Hovering over the URL should display a link in your browser's status bar. The ID appears at the end of the URL - e.g. http://www.sherpa.ac.uk/romeoupdate.php?id=76. You can use then use this number to create citeable links to the RoMEO record - e.g.
- http://www.sherpa.ac.uk/romeo/search.php?id=76 - This format displays all the RoMEO data except compliance with funders' OA mandates. If you would like to see the compliance data, the following formats can be used:
- http://www.sherpa.ac.uk/romeo/search.php?id=76&fIDnum=all - shows all compliance data.
- http://www.sherpa.ac.uk/romeo/search.php?id=76&fIDnum=| - shows a link saying "Compliance data is available for n funders". (n.b. '|' is the vertical line character.)
Journals
The only reliable way to link to data for a specific journal is to use its ISSN, because journal titles may not be unique. RoMEO data for a journal can be linked to as follows:
- http://www.sherpa.ac.uk/romeo/search.php?issn=0332-5865 - As with the publisher URLs, this format does not display data for compliance with funders' OA mandates. If you would like to see this data, the following formats can be used:
- http://www.sherpa.ac.uk/romeo/search.php?issn=0332-5865&fIDnum=all - shows all compliance data.
- http://www.sherpa.ac.uk/romeo/search.php?issn=0332-5865&fIDnum=| - shows a link saying "Compliance data is available for n funders".
Variable Links
Links can also be specified using the full name of a publisher or the full title of a journal. However, such links may be unreliable where:
- A journal title is not unique
- The specified text occurs within a longer journal title or publisher's name.
